Toyota Exploring Integration of SmartDeviceLink Technology

June 22nd, 2015 by

Toyota has plans to team up with Ford to put Livio’s SmartDeviceLink Technology, or SDL, into Toyota and Lexus models, integrating it into Toyota’s Entune Interface.

SDL is intended to combine different applications, fonts, input systems, and more that exist across various information and infotainment systems into one consistent, standardized interface to improve user experience.

2016 Toyota Camry will likely be one of the first vehicles to get SmartDeviceLink Technology

This is a great move for Toyota that will help the company keep up with the recent move among auto companies to introduce Apple and Android connectivity. In-car apps increase the versatility and utility of cars and are constantly growing in demand, so a device like SDL that provides a seamless, homogenous appearance to these apps is desperately needed. Toyota’s participation in the SDL project will dramatically increase its appeal.

At Toyota of Gastonia, we’re excited to see 2016 Toyota models come in with SDL integrated into the successful Entune Interface and to share it with our customers.
