2022 Toyota Highlander: A Roomy Cabin and Ample Capability
Many families rely on the 2022 Toyota Highlander to be their go-everywhere vehicle. Taking a road trip across the country? Visiting family on the other side of the state? Hoping to bring a boat or a trailer on your vacation? The Highlander is an ideal companion in all these scenarios.
First, the interior is plenty roomy no matter the row in which you’re seated. The front legroom measures 42 inches, second-row legroom comes in at 41 inches, and third-row legroom is a generous 27.7 inches. Headroom is plentiful as well, measuring 41.2 inches, 39.4 inches, and 36.1 inches in the first, second, and third rows, respectively.
Cargo room is another area where the cabin shines. You can fold the second- and third-row seats to achieve the most ideal cabin configuration. Cargo volume is as follows:
- 16 cubic feet behind the third row
- 48.4 cubic feet behind the second row
- 84.3 cubic feet behind the first row
There’s also a generous maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds if you have the SUV properly equipped. A V6 engine that produces 295 horsepower is what you want for maximum towing. The alternative engine is a 2.5L hybrid one that peaks at 3,500 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped.
Choosing Your 2022 Toyota Highlander Trim Level
As with any Toyota model, the 2022 Highlander comes in an array of trim levels. There are eleven options in all, with many being split between the V6 engine and the hybrid option.
The standard L trim comes with five USB ports and a Smart Key System with Push Button Start. The LE and the Hybrid LE stand out, thanks to their LED fog lights. The interiors of the XLE and the Hybrid XLE include a power tilt/slide moonroof and a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad.
The XSE trim introduces a sport-tuned independent MacPherson strut front suspension while the Bronze Edition touts 18-inch bronze-colored alloy wheels. If you select the Limited or the Hybrid Limited, you’ll enjoy an 11-speaker JBL® sound system.
Finally, the loaded Platinum and Hybrid Platinum feature luxuries, such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen display!
