There are two engines to consider for the 2022 Toyota Tundra. If you want to maximize your towing efforts, you’ll also be aided by new-age technologies.
The lesser output for the Tundra comes in at 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, which is nothing to scoff at. You can improve the strength of the vehicle, though, with the maximum output measuring 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque.
With the right performance in place and the necessary towing features, your maximum towing capacity will top out at an impressive 12,000 pounds.
You will have helpful towing technologies to support you. The array of available cameras and sensors means you can see which direction your trailer is going when you reverse, simply by looking at the touchscreen display. Considering the touchscreen can measure as much as 14 inches in size, it makes getting a feel for your surroundings easy.
Travel Wherever You Want
One of the consistent attributes of the Toyota Tundra over time has been its ability to travel off-road with the same poise and comfort it provides on-road. For 2022, a new multi-link rear suspension and additional high-strength materials further improve the off-roading composure.

- Multi-Terrain Select
- Crawl Control
With Multi-Terrain Select, you can manually move through different drive modes to conquer varying types of terrain more easily. Crawl Control is a system that improves stability and precision, while you slowly go over rocks or up a mountainside.
There’s also the TRD Pro trim of the truck—a favorite for those who really want to travel into the wilderness. The feature list for the TRD Pro is lengthy and includes both Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control, in addition to:
- 18-inch BBS® forged alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires
- TRD aluminum skid plate
- Off-road suspension with FOX® shocks
