As your workday comes to a close near Gastonia, Charlotte, Lincolnton, you climb into your truck and head home to relax on the couch. You work hard all week long, but is your vehicle working hard enough?
Give yourself a break by getting behind the wheel of a truck ready for whatever the jobsite throws your way. The 2022 Toyota Tundra and the 2021 Ford F-150 are two standout trucks, but which one is the right match for you?
The team at Toyota of Gastonia is here to find the answer!
STANDARD HORSEPOWER
STANDARD TOWING
SAFETY PACKAGE
When it comes to efficiently running your family’s farm or business, you need to know you have the right amount of power by your side.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra kicks things off with a commanding 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 engine that delivers 348 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. The best part about this? All of that potent power comes standard! No matter which Tundra trim you choose, you’ll have the power to get the job done.
The Ford F-150, on the other hand, only has 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque from its standard 3.3L V6 engine, so you may be left wanting a little more muscle for your worksite duties.
Plus, the 2022 Tundra has an available hybrid powertrain! Its 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 engine works with an electric motor to generate an electrifying 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the optional hybrid powertrain of the 2021 F-150 only puts out 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque.
All the power from the base engine in the Tundra enables this pickup to tow a maximum of 8,300 pounds when properly equipped. Once again, the F-150 falls short since the standard powertrain can only tackle a maximum of 8,200 pounds when properly configured.
If your work takes you on tough terrain, both trucks can confidently handle it. Activate the available Multi-Terrain Select system in the Tundra to choose a terrain mode—Mud, Sand, Rock, Mogul, and Auto—that matches your current road conditions. The Ford F-150 also has a comparable system, which is called the Terrain Management System.
Whether you’re towing a trailer to a remote campground or staying in town to take care of business, you need to know the ride there will be safe. Therefore, the 2022 Tundra comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5.
Unfortunately, the base model of the Ford F-150 is not equipped with all the same comparable features. Due to this, you’ll need to choose a higher trim level if you want the same safety systems on your F-150.
